I am a lover of the matte lip trend and especially lip kits. It all started with the hype over the Kylie lip kits and since then so many brands have created their own for a fraction of the price. The most affordable one I have come across and these ones from Primark which are just £3 each. Compared to the £21.50 Kylie one which costs about £10 to deliver and also accommodating for the customs charges.
When I saw these in the store before they only had Cookie Dough but I wasn’t really feeling a dark brown colour and I find that makes me look more pale than I am. So opted for Flutter and Girls World. I feel that the lighter nude shade would be perfect for everday makeup and the dark plum would be ideal for autumn/winter looks.
I like how the packaging has a clear window insert so you can see what the product itself looks like without having to rip open the box. The box for Flutter was a little damaged at the top but as it was the only one left I picked it up anyway. In the box you get a liquid lipstick that dries matte and a lip liner to help extend the wear of the lipstick as well as providing a vibrant base to the colour.
One thing I will say is that having the shade name on the top of the box instead of the front, makes it a bit tricky to see when sifting through them. Especially when they are on an eye level rail so you cannot see the top. Other than that I cannot fault the packaging itself as it looks lovely.
So this is what you have been waiting for – swatches!
Flutter liner and lipstick
As expected, Flutter is a beautiful peachy nude and would make the ideal every day shade to wear. I love wearing these shades for work as I like to keep it as natural as possible.
Flutter liner and lipstick, Girls World liner and lipstick
I love the dark plum shade of Girls World and as I thought, I reckon I will be getting a lot of wear out of this colou in autumn winter. I find I like wearing plum shades more than reds in the colder seasons. To be honest I feel a bit like a clown if I wear red so berry and plum is the closest I go.
Top – Flutter before and after, Bottom – Girls World before and after
As you can see above, the fading was not bad at all after a whole day of wearing them and I would highly recommend them. They mainly faded around the inner part of my lips when I was eating and drinking throughout the day. I do not find them drying at all and the colour payoff it impressive. For only £3 each these are such good quality – well done Primark! They most definitely dry quickly and do not have that awkward tacky stage which is great. One thing I will say is though, the colours themselves don’t look like the packaging so that would need to be taken into consideration when purchasing one for yourself. I have noticed that they have now done a metallic and glitter version which I am super intrigued to try!
