Ready, Get set, Gym! Today for the first time I sucked it up and went to my local Gym with one of my friends/coworkers. I have contemplated many times about attending a Gym but I always seemed to talk myself out of it. You know that little annoying self doubting voice in your head – yeah that. As my friend already attended the Gym regularly across from where we go to work. So I decided it was about time to go out and do something with my spare time after work, there is only so much binge watching on Netflix you can do right?
It was quite a scary thought to begin with, but realizing that I am going with a friend I feel comfortable to a non-franchise Gym it relaxed my nerves. In the end I spent over and hour on the various apparatus, time seemed to fly by! I made me feel so good when I was working out and felt more relaxed having someone I knew there that knows what they are doing.
I am unsure yet whether to jump in with the full commitment of setting up a membership at the Gym. I may for now stick to using the pay as you go sessions as I believe that once you are committed to paying monthly for it, you are more likely to quite and terminate the membership sooner than expected. My plan is to start small and end big as I don’t want to turn into one of the once in a blue moon Gym-goers. As I enjoyed the exercise and change of scenery and the feeling of a successful workout I don’t want to jump in too fast and give in. After all I don’t really do that much exercise apart from figure skating once a week so I reckon that the regular exercise will not only help improve my skating but improve my general energy over all and ‘can do’ attitude as well as enjoying the physical results to my body.
I strongly feel that this is the start of something great. Don’t tell yourself you can’t. Because there is always a way you can do anything you put your mind to. Just start with baby steps and it will get you to where you want to be in the long run.
