I was inspired the other day to get my baking head back on and give a batch of cupcakes a go. And as the holiday of love is around the corner, I thought what better way to celebrate then to make them look pretty and keep within the theme of love and romance. So to find out how I made these delicious cakes keep on reading!
What I used:
- Vanilla Sponge Mix
- Cake Cases
- Cupcake Tray
First of all, I got all of the above ready to go.
And I then followed the instructions on the packet mix. Which was to add the mixture with 3 eggs and 10 tbsp of water and combine together in a bowl.
I then pre-heated the oven to 160 and added the mixture to the cases in the cupcake tray ready to bake.
And after 20 minutes in the oven they came out perfectly fluffy with a little crisp to the tops. Once my first batch of 6 were done and cooling I went on to do the other half as I only have one of these baking trays so had to wait.
And once they were all done and ready to ice, I moved onto my next step, which was to add their gooey caramel filling, this part is totally optional or you could add any filling of your choice so have fun with it!
So to fill the center of the cakes with gooey goodness, I cut a circle out of the cake and filled the hole with caramel.
Once it was filled to my liking I then trimmed the bit I cut out down and added the top back to the cake to cover the caramel and keep it tucked nicely inside.
And when they were all done they looked a little like this;
And now onto the fun bit, icing the cakes and covering them in pretty sprinkles! For icing I used the Dr Oetker Vanilla Icing which comes in a squirty can. However, unfortunately this icing ran out on our last two cakes so we had to ‘sacrifice’ them.. and by that I mean stuff them in our mouths and my they were a delicious preview!
And to add the finishing touches, I bought these gorgeous mixture of sprinkles from Asda and used the hearts, hundreds and thousands and the strands. And may I add how pretty the cases I found in my baking box were that I have never used!? I believe these were from Tesco?
